From The Vault-1954 Bentley R Type Continental Drophead Coupe by Park Ward

The latest car from the Frank Dale vault comes in the form of Chassis No BC25D. At a glance this appears to be a Bentley S1 Continental Drophead Coupe by Park Ward, but it is in fact one of just four R Type Continentals built to Design No 647. These two models look very similar to state the obvious, but there are some subtle differences; the position of the exterior door handles and the tail lights being perhaps the easiest to pick out. Manual transmission was also fitted to two of the four cars built, something that was never offered on the S1 Continental Drophead.

We sold this car in the early 1980s and it now resides in one of the best collections in the US. Beautiful to look at, wonderful to drive and one of the most collectible post-war Bentleys ever built. Gorgeous!
