From The Vault-1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Coupe by Freestone & Webb

Today’s car from the Frank Dale vault is Chassis No 42PY, a Rolls-Royce of incredible style. It was originally designed in 1933 for Sir John Leigh who had a significant collection of cars including several Phantom II Continentals. Frank Dale owned this car in the late 1940s/early 1950s and as is the case with many of the most beautiful Phantom II Continentals, it then found its way to the United States. It was sold for a world record sum in 2013 at auction, being acquired and repatriated to the UK by Lord Bamford. It has since been returned to a two-tone colour scheme which most agree suits the coachwork beautifully. In my opinion this has to be one of, if not the very best-looking Rolls-Royce ever made with closed coachwork. A work of art on wheels and a car I wish we had kept forever.
